Hello and Goodbye
Apr. 5th, 2011 10:37 amResponse to my request to be removed from the FC program at Y!CN:
Hi Nicole,
We admire your talent as a writer, and regret to hear that you are no longer interested in being a part of the Featured Contributors program. Nonetheless, we have removed you from the program based on your stated intention to leave as well as your public condemnation of our editorial policies. You are still welcome to claim and submit toward any assignments that have been targeted to you thus far.
We would also like to make sure that you understand our position on declining your content:
You are absolutely entitled to your opinions and our team never shies away from feedback (in fact, we welcome and appreciate constructive criticism from our contributors!). However, our Submission Guidelines state very clearly that publishing a Yahoo! article is not an appropriate way for you to share your opinions about our platform:
Don't publish content that consists of feedback intended for the Yahoo! Contributor Network staff. It is not appropriate to publish content that criticizes or reviews our policies, staff members, or other contributors. Contact us with suggestions and/or complaints. You can use the Contributor Forum to discuss the Yahoo! Contributor Network with other contributors.
Our Submission Guidelines apply equally to all contributors; although the Yahoo! Contributor Network allows contributors more freedom in choosing topics than most publishing platforms, that does not mean that it should be treated like a personal blog.
We see that you have now re-published your declined Yahoo! article on your personal blog. While we do not agree with the way you’ve characterized our routine editorial decision (i.e., declining content based on an explicit and longstanding guideline), we should point out that your blog would have been a perfectly acceptable platform for sharing your feedback initially. Our objection was never with your opinions, but rather with the methods you used to express them.
Thank you for taking the time to apply to the Featured Contributor program. We wish you all the best,
Yahoo! Contributor Network

Goodbye and good riddance is all I can say. I'm not taking down any of my previous content (for now), so by all means, please feel free to browse it and read it and I'll be happy to keep collecting on page view revenue. I just refuse to give them any more of my creative time.
At the moment I've got 7 articles finished in my Demand Studios queue worth over the last few days, worth $105 if they all get accepted. That's about as much as I'd be lucky to make in a month, maybe, with Y!CN. No great loss on my end, only theirs.
