Foxglove in Bloom: A Dangerous Beauty

As a child I marveled as the budding stalks of foxglove plants grew until they towered over me. Yet I was also warned of how dangerous the Digitalis purpurea could be, as it is one of the most poisonous common ornamental plants in many gardens.
